For most people eating is a pleasure, but for some it can be an addiction. Addictive Eaters Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience and hope with each other to solve their common problem and help others to recover from addictive eating.
AEA was established in Christchurch, New Zealand by a group of men and women, who have been recovering from food addiction for many years through the help of other Twelve Step recovery fellowships, including Alcoholics Anonymous and Overeaters Anonymous. There are now groups all over the world.
Drawing from the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions developed in Alcoholics Anonymous, including forgiveness, service and gratitude, it offers people support and guidance from a group who have been there and who can offer a path to a future free from food obsession.
