Black Santa Collection

This year in the run up to Christmas, several different choirs all came to sing outside St. Ann’s church on Dublin’s Dawson St. during their annual Black Santa collection that this year was in aid of the homeless.

They joined the vicar of St Ann’s, Canon David Gillespie and clerical colleagues from around the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough to help raise money as part of their annual Black Santa collection. This is the 14th year that the Black Santa (so named because the clergy involved wear black cloaks) sit-out appeal has been held at St Ann’s and to date it has raised almost €400,000 for charity. This year the money will go to the homeless. Miriam Gormally met Canon Gillespie to find out more.
