Pope Francis recently has recently returned from a trip to Mexico. During his trip he was questioned regarding Donal Trumps policy to build a wall if elected. Pope Francis replied that “a person who thinks only about building walls… and not of building bridges, is not Christian”. Donal Trump responded with criticism.

Miriam Gormally met with Fr. Michael Collins, who has written, “Pope Francis: Bishop of Rome” and “Pope Francis: A photographic Portrait of the People’s Pope”. He did his book tour in the US while Pope Francis was on tour in America and as such has an insight into how the Americans view the Pope. Miriam Gormally began by asking whether he think Pope Francis meant to criticise Donal Trump or whether he was speaking more generally and whether the statement will hinder or help the Pope’s general message.
