It’s that time of year again when many excited little girls and boys around the country are preparing for the Communion. For some it is a meaningful sacrament, for others it is one of their biggest fashion days to date.
The recession however has meant nothing but worry and stress before the First Holy Communion. Parents stress over budgets for food, visitors, drink and, of course, the dress.
It is particularly hard for cash strapped families. Miriam Gormally spoke with Mairead Bushnell from the Vincent de Paul society about how they help parents at this particularly stressful time.
