As many children die in Ethiopia every six months as were said to have died in the Asian tsunami, according to Archbishop Berhaneyesus of Addis Ababa. Speaking with Miriam Gormally about the importance of the Trocaire Lenten Campaign, he reminded us that a million people will die in Africa this year from malaria. A further half a million women will die in childbirth and three million from HIV/AIDS. The Archbishop began by explaining why the Lenten campaign is so important for Ethiopia.
