Previously we heard from Fr. Richard Leonard S.J. talking about the Jubilee Year of Mercy and the challenges and opportunity it raises for Christians. But of all the things we are called to as followers of Christ,, Fr. Richard says that t forgiveness is “one of the most difficult”. He explains to Pat Coyle that it is particularly difficult to forgive people who take no responsibility for what they have done and what they have said. He also looks at the concept of Jubilee and how it existed as a 50 year event where people forgave en masse, including things like forgiving debt or setting people free. He says that now, more than ever, we need to bring these concepts of forgiveness back to our modern world.
