After much negotiations and disagreements, Greece accepted a third bailout programme from the ECB. Prime MinisterAlexis Tsipras told lawmakers he had accepted a package he did not believe in and which would harm Greece, but the alternative was a disorderly bankruptcy that would be catastrophic.

Many onlookers felt that the package was harsh and that fiscal rule had trumped democracy as the Greeks took onboard a package with tougher reforms than those rejected by voters in the July 5th referendum.

Miriam Gormally spoke with Michelle Murphy from Social Justice Ireland about the package and how the process would make all European countries question the European project.
