Suicide is unfortunately prevalent in our society and the statistics are a stark reality of the numbers of people impacted by suicide. It’s estimated that around 1,000 people die by suicide in Ireland each year and many hundreds more are affected. Lough Derg are holding a special Living with Suicide Retreat day on September 24th to bring people together to a safe place where they might find some sense of healing and peace in the midst of pain and struggle.

Christy Kenneally, one of Ireland’s best-loved communicators and media personalities and also author of Life after Loss and Small Wonder will be guest speaker at the event. He says that many people feel a mix of emotions from grief to guilt after suicide, but that one of the great benefits of meeting others is seeing that you are normal.Wendy Grace interviews Christy Kenneally to find out why Lough Derg was chosen as the location.
