Ireland’s refusal to accept the 13bn euro in recovered taxes that Europe deemed they had given to Apple as unfair state aid, left many people angry at the tax double standard. Spanish MEP Pablo Zalba Bidgegain said that “Citizens who have been asked for great sacrifices cannot understand that big multinationals do not participate in this collective effort.”

Miriam Gormally met with Michelle Murphy from Social Justice Ireland to find out what they thought about it and how the world needs to work towards a fairer taxation system. Michelle spoke about how Pope Francis has been very vocal on this issue and the social and fiscal justice is an important social and Christian value. She explained more.
