Whitefriar Street Church, in the centre of Dublin, is home to the relics of St. Valentine. It is the only place, outside of Rome to have any relics of the saint. The church is run by the Irish Province of Carmelites and they have seen a resurgence in interest in St. Valentine, especially in the lead up to St. Valentine’s day. They have even had proposals in front of the reliquary. This Valentine’s day, inspired by people who have asked to have their rings blessed, they are going to have two special masses offering a blessing of rings, one at 11.30am and one at 3pm.

Fr. Brian McKay, the Prior of Whitefriar Street explained the story of St. Valentine to Miriam Gormally and how his relics came to be in Whitefriar Street Church.
