Many of us would love a chance to get away from it all and have some peace. For many, pilgrimage is the best choice for this. One of the most renowned and arguably challenging pilgrimages is Lough Derg, but every year it brings in crowds. Philomena Doherty from Donnybrook in Dublin has completed the three-day pilgrimage on Lough Derg many times. She talks to Laura Byrne about the difficulties involved, what keeps her going back and the sense of peace on the island. But first she shares her first experience of Lough Derg and what prompted her to go.
