An Bhainis Phosta a bhí i Gcana or the wedding feast of Cana is a song from Nóirín Ní Riain’s album, the Virgin’s Lament. Recorded in the warm, pure acoustic environment of Glenstal Abbey, The Virgin’s Lament is a rare recording of the oldest surviving Celtic music. The Virgin’s Lament was the beginning of Nóirín’s personal journey into traditional religious songs of the Irish language. The Wedding feast of Cana has a special spiritual resonance for women in Bible as John is careful to note that it was the first miracle and that it was done at the request of his mother.
