While much of the country is enjoying prosperity, Travellers are still living in what some describe as developing world conditions. ‘Traveller’s Last Rights’, a report compiled my Fr. Stephen Monaghan and Jacinta Brack of the Citizen Traveller project, highlights some stark statistics. One of the most shocking findings was that of all reported Traveller deaths studied in a 10-year period, half were of people under the age of 39. A previous report on traveller’s life expectancy had been done before in 1987 and Miriam Gormally asked Stephen whether anything had changed or improved since then.
