The role of a university chaplain is very varied. Martin Loftus SDB – chaplain in Maynooth University describes his typical daily duties and the services his offers to the students there. He talks about the difficulties he faces in his job such as dealing with bereavement, breaking bad news to students and accepting that you cannot be there for a student 24 hours a day. He also talks about the support he has and how prayer helps him through the difficult times.
