There is a long tradition of fasting and abstinence in the Catholic Church, particularly during Lent. Even to this day, Catholics are called on to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and every Friday during Lent. For many, it is something that has largely fallen by the wayside and most people pick and chose what to give up, if indeed at all. But Conor Deane, well known to Soul Waves Radio, having done pieces with us in the past, chose this Lent to not just give up meat but to go vegan.

A self-proclaimed meat lover, he has signed up to the “Happy Heart Course”, run by twins, David and Stephen Flynn to help people make the switch to a plant-based diet for Lent. He explains the spiritual and physical reasons behind making this decision to Miriam Gormally.
