Fr Damian McNeice, Master of Ceremonies to the Archbishop, was heavily involved in organising the Pope’s visit to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families 2018, held in Dublin.

This was his second time to see a Pope in Ireland and he talks here with Conor Deane about the day in August 2018 and how it compared to the one in 1979 when Pope John Paul II visited Ireland.

He said that the weather for the mass in Croke Park made it difficult for people to get to Dublin, but that the day beforehand in the RDS was a massive success with over 34,000 people and a vibrant atmosphere. He also said that he was struck by the number of young people who attended. He talks as well about the legacy of Pope Francis’ visit.
