Brendan Stuanton SJ, has a background in psychoanalytic thought and says that we can use Freudian interpretation to understand where Trump victory comes from. He says that a Freudian interpretation would point to four fundamental concepts: division; the shock of trauma; the reversal; the drive.

In particular, he feels that Trump is about reversal, a deep yearning and nostalgic need for a golden age. An idea that we can make America great again – and put everything back the way it used to be. Reestablishing a white male America as the dominant force, even if that means creating fear and division for others.  But first Fr Brendan explains about he feels about the election.
