Blessed Edmund Rice

May 5th is the feast of Blessed Edmund Rice, who founded the Christian Brothers in 1802 and was beatified by Pope John Paul 11 in 1996. Christian Brother Schools were established in every diocese in the country and are still providing excellent education opportunities.  Because of declining numbers the Brothers have had to re organise and restructure, as Donal O’Callaghan, Director of the Edmund Rice Centre in Dublin, told Eileen Good.
