‘Ireland is losing its religion’ – is the opening line of Malachi O’Donerty’s recent book Empty Pulpits, Ireland’s Retreat from Religion. In his introduction he says ‘(Ireland) is losing its faith more rapidly than any other European country has done before, without a revolution.’ Broadcaster Gemma McCrohan read his book and overall found it a most interesting read, as she told Eileen Good.
