Celebrating Women in the Church

This week, we have an almost prophetic piece of music by Rev Noireen Ni Riain, In Paupertatis Praedio, In the Farmland of Poverty. Following on from the recent meeting for the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazonian region looking at environmentalism and the role of women in the Church, this piece looks at the kind of poverty faced by those most in touch with the land.

Also the call for an increase in the role of women in the Church would have been one Noireen would have felt very keenly, having had a vocation to the priesthood herself.

Eventually the failure to realise her calling within the Catholic Church became too great, so she left and went on to be a Reverend with the One Spirit Inter Faith Seminary.
