Since coming to office, Pope Francis has been making headline and redefining the Papacy. Fr. Michael Collins, well-known author of a number of books about the Popes of the Catholic Church, speaks to Miriam Gormally about some of the unusual decisions that have been made by the new pontiff, Pope Francis, and the reactions to them in the Vatican. But first Fr. Michael speaks about the significance of the Pope’s recent visit to Lampedusa Island in Southern Italy, where he laid a wreath in memory of the many African migrants that have lost their lives trying to reach Europe.
