Finding God in the Mess

Trying to believe that there is something positive in everything, is one of the central messages of Brendan McManus’ book, “Finding God in the Mess”. Co-authored with Jim Deeds, he looks at how difficult situations can leave us struggling and feeling abandoned, but that taking time out to look back and understand life’s events can help us find perspective and a sense that God is in it somewhere.

No stranger to suffering himself, Brendan lost his own brother through suicide and he talks about how walking, ritual and meditation helped him through. Best selling author and Jesuit he draws from his own life and his Ignatian training to bring practical ways to help people cope with the messiness of life.

The meditation in the book would be ideal for a daily prayer source, for morning, daytime or evening prayer. They are also ideal for parish groups who might read a reflection and then come together for discussion. Here he speaks with Pat Coyle about why the book seemed to resonate with so many.

The book is published through Messenger Publication and you can order a copy here .
