Spring is a time of growth and renewal. Michael Kelly is founder of Grow it yourself (GIY) Ireland. He talks about how when people grow their own food it gives them a renewed appreciation and deeper connection to their food and environment. Describing it as very therapeutic, spiritual and primordial, he says that growing your own food can really bring you back in touch with the natural rhythms of life. He explains that he had his own “Road to Damascus” moment in a supermarket when he was buying a bulb of garlic and seeing that it had come all the way from China. Miriam Gormally met Michael in Airfield in Dundrum where he was announcing 200 new projects that would receive funding from their Get Ireland Growing fund.
