Pope Francis’ attendance at the The two World Meeting of Families 2018 in Ireland has been met with great enthusiasm. Tickets for the two events for which Pope Francis has confirmed attendance, Knock Shrine and the Phoenix Park were very quickly taken up. Knock Shrine is now fully booked out at 45,000 people and the 3pm Mass in the Phoenix Park has already seen 500,000 of 600,000 tickets booked.

Both of these events are free but ticketed – every adult and child in attendance will need a ticket to access the venues.

Brenda Drumm, media and communications manager with the world meeting of families, says it shows the interest that someone like Pope Francis can inspire and that it will give Ireland a boost and put us on the map as a venue of note.

Miriam Gormally also asked her about some of the points of concern from people who felt it was unfair that tickets were only available online as well as protests and criticisms from people who felt that the occasion wasn’t inclusive of LGBTQI families.

Brenda began by talking about how the excitement had been building since March.
