Peter McVerry says that the problem of homelessness is “worst than anything I’ve ever experience in forty years”. He says it’s no longer just about young men with social problems sleeping rough, but about whole families being out on the streets. His numbers show that there is an average of five new presentations of homelessness in Dublin per days and this year he was asked by one family if they could sleep in his car. Here he talks with Pat Coyle about the situation and where things like NAMA and restorative justice can form part of the solution.
