For thousands of years pilgrims have ‘done’ Lough Derg. Situated in Co. Donegal, Station Island, also known as St. Patrick’s Purgatory, is one of about twenty islands on the lake.  St. Patrick’s association with Lough Derg goes back to the earliest records and since the twelfth century legend has firmly established him there. Msgr. Richard Mohan, is the prior of Lough Derg.  He spoke to Eileen Good from his office there and he started by explaining the meaning of pilgrimage.
