May 19th, is Drawing Day and the National Gallery of Ireland will be encouraging artists of all ages and abilities to take up a pen or pencil and start drawing. The Gallery will host a celebration of drawing and creativity, with events and activities for all ages.  Artists, designers and illustrators will be responding to the gallery’s collection and building in their own unique way. There will be activities for all ages and even a chance to sketch on Merrion Square and make your own umbrella.

Miriam Gormally spoke with Sinead Rice, Head of Education at the National Gallery of Ireland about this day. They also looked at the importance art plays in our lives and imaginations and how in many ways we are all becoming more aware of and even communication with visual imagery.
