Next year the Pope will call a Synod of Bishops on the issue of New Evangelisation. The term can be confusing, suggesting an evangelising of countries that aren’t Christian. But in an interview with Pat Coyle, Jesuit theologian Gerry Whelan, who lectures in the Gregorian University in Rome, says it really concerns making Christianity a fresh and revitalising force in Christian countries where its salt may seem to have lost its flavour.
