The Sacred Heart Messenger first appeared on 6 January, 1888 and has been in print continuously ever since. In the first year of its life, promoters of the Messenger carried copies to 9,000 homes throughout Ireland. Today it reaches 70,000 readers each month, which makes the Messenger probably the biggest-selling magazine in the land. Donal Neary SJ has been recently appointed as the new editor and the magazine is going to get a new look in January. Pat Coyle spoke with Donal Neary SJ author and teacher about the new look and about the dedication of the distributer as well as some of the more creative uses for the magazine!
