The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has just elected a new president – and for the first time in its 165 years the new president is a woman – Mairead Bushnell. Mairead is from Cork where she has been an active member of the V. de P. for many years, most recently as Regional President. She is a former teacher and member of the I.C.A. Eileen Good spoke to her about her new role and she first asked her if, in Celtic Tiger Ireland, she felt there was still a need for the Vincent de Paul.
