We are all ageing and yet many of our images of older people are negative. Positive Ageing Week is running from 26 September to Saturday 4 October 2008. It is sponsored by ESB and organised by Age Action Ireland to celebrating ageing and highlight the fact that ageing can be an opportunity and not a burden. There are over 600 events planned to take place through out Ireland as well as numerous special Masses and ecumenical services. 10 towns, including Drogheda have been designated positive ageing week towns and Miriam Gormally spoke with Bridie Clarke from Drogheda, about what will be happening there.

A full list of events around the country is available at www.ageaction.ie

The other Positive Ageing Week towns are Arklow, Kilkenny, Dungarvan, Midleton, Athy, Mountmellick, Sligo, Galway and Dublin.
