This Sunday May 11 at 3pm, hundreds of people from all over Ireland will come to the People’s Chapel in Clongowes Wood College, near the village of Clane.

The people will to attend a mass of thanksgiving and prayer for the canonisation of the remarkable Jesuit John Sullivan SJ, a Portora educated Protestant who converted to Catholicism and  who spent almost 30 years teaching in Clongowes. He was beloved of the poor leaving miraculous cures in his wake, including the nephew of Michael Collins who thought paralysed was able to walk again after a visit in a Dublin hospital from Fr Sullivan.

To this day he is prayed to by people all over the world, and his tomb in Gardiner St Church is visited daily by people who get great comfort from this man with a remarkable story.

The cause for his canonisation has been moved along steadily and it’s now believed that he will soon be declared a Saint. Here is “The Father Sullivan Air” which will be played at the Mass. It was written by singer/songwriter Eamon Keane, specially commissioned in hounour of the saint to be.
