In Amoris Laetitia, “The Joy of Love”, Pope Francis argues that the early teachings of the Church did not subscribe to the ascetic duality of body bad, soul good, that they rejected those teachings, saying both were a whole. In fact “holiness” was about the integration of things of the body and things of the soul.

In the upcoming world meeting of Families on August 22-26, and will be looking at all aspects of married life, including sensual love. Fr Tim Bartlett is the general manager for WMOF2018 and he said that the Church should draw from Amoris Laetita and encourage sensual love, but in a way that is mindful and protective of everyone involved. He also addresses the objections some people have raised in having a group of celibate men talk about family life. But begins by saying that the Church teaching on the body are and should be positive.
