The New Slaves

Our pieces from the archives this week come from 2007. Here is one of the pieces we did looking at the  issue of Human Trafficking.

CORI-IMU against Human Trafficking is an ad hoc working group who have come together to address the issue of trafficking –a form of modern day slavery.  They believe they can make a difference here and in the countries of origin and transit.  Maura O’Donoghue is a Sister with the Medical Missionaries of Mary and she explained to Eileen Good what trafficking is and what can be done to stop this harrowing form of modern day slavery.

I welcome yet another voice on this dreadful issue. Maura tells the story so clearly that it cannot but raise awareness. May her good work continue until this awful situation changes completely.
