The very reverend Victor Griffin, former dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, now in his nineties talks about the changes that have taken place in his lifetime. He looks at the waning of religious influence and the rise of secularism, but says we have nothing to fear from secularism – it too is moved by transcendence. He tells Paul Loughlin that we should trust that the spirit will also enlighten secularists to take a lead in improving humanity and that we are moving towards tolerance and pluralism.
