Walking Gently on Earth is a book produced by the Mercy sisters in response to a nomination by Vita for an Eco-Congregation Award. Eco-Congregation is a development among four Irish churches – Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist and Church of Ireland – that “encourages churches to celebrat the gift of God’s creation, to recognize the interdependence of all creation, and to care for it in their life and mission and through the members’ personal lifestyles.”

The book is a direct invitation to hear The Cry of the Earth and to move people away from lifestyle choices driven by consumerism. Miriam Gormally met with Suzanne Ryder, one of the editors of the book, who explained that sustainability is our lifeline, which informs all our daily choices, ensuring the future survival of our earth. She explained that it relates to the Universe Story, which looks at our shared evolution and interconnectedness with each other.
