Imagine living in a country where you have to rely on your children to communicate with others, go to the doctor or even do the shopping. This is the case for many members of Ireland’s new community. Fáilte Isteach was set up to help.  They provide language support for the immigrant community through conversational English classes run by volunteers. Started in Summerhill, Co. Meath and due to its huge success, is now going nationwide.  Miriam Gormally met Liam Carey, the new development officer in charge of helping communities set up similar schemes and Marie Roman one of the first immigrants to benefit from the scheme. She started by asking Liam to explain what it’s all about.
