It’s 100 years since Pope Benedict XV’s encyclical Maximum Illud called Catholics to bring the Good News to all peoples (Missio Ad Gentes). To commemorate its anniversary, Pope Francis has declared October 2019 to be an Extraordinary Month of Mission.
Under the theme, baptised and sent, this month calls on all who are baptised to reflect on what their mission in life is. There are lots of simple and easy was to get involved says Julieann Moran, National Secretary for the Society of Missionary Children.
In this first of a two part series, she looks at the work that she does with children and how she helps children reflect on what refugees experience and how missionary month gives them an added opportunity to do that.
