As Christmas approaches, people are encouraged to shop even more than ever. Days like Black Friday extend for a week, where massive pre Christmas sales entice more people to spend. To offer some reflection and an antidote to all the shopping madness, Columba Press along with The Irish Catholic organised “Bright Friday”. Bringing together poets, musicians and mindfulness practitioners from across Ireland, they held a day in University Church on St. Stephen’s Green.

Miriam Gormally met well-known priest Fr. Brian D’Arcy who spoke very movingly at this event. She interviewed him afterwards about how we can find calm and reflection amidst the Christmas chaos.
