Earlier this week, the Irish Prison Service and the Irish Probation Service launched their Joint Strategy for prisons for 2015-2017. The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice say that certain critical objectives were not met in previous strategic plans and they worry that the same will happen to the current Joint Strategy.

They are specifically concerned about chronic overcrowding, cell sharing, the needs of prisoners requiring protection and the needs of the people who work in prison.
