Every day we hear about deaths on the road.  But the Christmas season is a time when festive spirits run high and there are often more crashes than usual.  It can happen so quickly and is often a case of a momentary lapse of concentration.  Ray Fuller, is a psychology professor in Trinity College Dublin and he has done extensive research on the subject of dangerous driving and accidents.  Miriam Gormally asked him why it is that people drive so fast and often so dangerously when they know that there is an increased risk of an accident.
