As weather in Ireland continues to become more erratic with first hurricanes and now freak snow storms hitting Ireland in March, we are reminded again of the work of Fr. Sean McDonagh, an eco theologian and author of many books including “Climate Change: The Challenge to all of us.” We ourselves had to cancel interviews due to the weather, so we’re looking back to this interview from 2014 where Sean talked about how we needed to take climate change seriously. He was involved in writing the pastoral reflection, “The Cry of the Earth: Call for Action for Climate Justice.” He also worked for many years in the Philippines and saw first hand the devastating impacts that climate change can have on local habitats.

He has been quoted in the past as saying that the Church doesn’t do enough to address the issue of ecology. Here he talks with Miriam Gormally about how the Church should be at the front leading the change. Miriam began by asking him if there are positive signs that the Church is moving towards an ecological agenda.
