The meaning of Spring

Spring is a season, bringing fresh life and new hope, beginning with St. Brigid’s Day. It is a time of renewal and planting, something that is well known to Sr. Pauline McGrath, a Dominican sister who lives and works down in An Tairseach. An Tairseach is an organic farm where the Dominican sister live and preach the Word of God through retreats and information on ecology. Miriam Gormally spoke with Sr. Pauline McGrath to find out what spring meant to her and whether it was significant that it started with such a prominent Christian saint.
How beautiful to hear Pauline’s positive message. It is wonderful to be reminded of how the human is considered to be the only sacred part of nature. Everything is indeed sacred and to see life from this perspective is quite a liberation. I hadn’t heard the translation of Imbolg before and I am grateful for that new insight, even as the light comes to greet us once more.Thank you!
